Today's Obsession: DIY Lamp

3:12 PM

Have a boring plain white lamp shade in need of some serious style enhancement? Try this easy DIY trick that can be done in a matter of an hour! I just fixed up this lamp for my own apartment!

What you'll need:

  • 2 yards of a sheer fabric
  • hot glue gun and extra glue sticks
  • lamp shade (make sure you take it off the lamp before you begin!)
  • fabric scissors
What to do:
  1.  Start by gluing the end of the fabric to the inside of the lampshade. Bunch up the fabric slightly as you glue to achieve the ruched effect.

  2. Finish gluing the fabric to the top of the lampshade, making sure to overlap the end of the fabric over the start by 1-2 inches. I folded the fabric over so there was no rough edge.

  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the bottom of the lampshade. You can trim the excess fabric as you go so that you don't get into a tangled mess.

  4. Reattach lamp shade to the lamp and there you have it, a cute lamp to accent any room in your house!
